DESIGNER &

NON-PROFIT ENTREPRENEUR

“Once upon a time” is one of my favorite phrases.

It means the start of a new story, a new adventure, a new way to connect with others.

I have loved storytelling since I was a small kid and as a high school senior, I love it more than ever. My love for storytelling has translated into my passion for marketing and graphic design. I've been taking graphic design/multimedia courses for five years, and have completed two specialized graphic design courses at the Frisco Career and Technical Education Center. During that time I have designed logos for everything from elementary schools to student-run small businesses. I currently design all the shirts, posters, and programs for the Frisco High School Theatre Department.

Earlier in 2021, I also started using my passion for storytelling and my graphic design skills to found and run ReTextile, an organization that uses fabric that was going to be thrown away to make quilts to provide comfort to survivors of human trafficking (https://retextile.org). I want these survivors to know that they are loved and that their story is still being written.

When I’m not at my computer or my quilting machine, you can find me editing my school papers, overanalyzing fantasy novels, or perfecting my ginger molasses cookie recipe.

I’m excited to see where my story will take me.

Here’s to “Once upon a time”.

Through my independent study, I plan to develop a deeper understanding of how to successfully run a non-profit organization. I will challenge myself to apply what I learn from my research and mentor to my own non-profit, ReTextile. As l use and further develop my creativity and perseverance for the good of the community, I hope to expand ReTextile and help more survivors of human trafficking.
