As I said in my ISM speech last week, ReTextile has 5 out of our 52 quilt goals for this year. But, these quilts still need to be longarmed. My goal is to get them done over Spring Break. But needing to longarm these quilts has made me realize that I need to recruit more volunteers who can longarm quilts for ReTextile. I will be calling a few potential contacts about that issue this week.
That has been something that has been stressing me out lately, but I have made lots of progress in other places! There’s a lot, so I’m going to make a list.
Last week, I met with my mentor, and she helped me fill out the 202 Form, which is a precursor to the actual 501(c)3 form.
I got another large fabric donation which I will be sorting through tomorrow.
Nancy Taylor, a CFO at an autism awareness organization, will be my treasurer! I’m going to be sending her an email tomorrow.
I finished a quilt kit and now have to double-check that there is enough fabric.
I sent an email to an interested community member.
Whew! That’s a lot. This week, I will be observing Ms. Watkins at a speaking engagement and quilting with Leslie Rose (Gypsy Quilters). I am so proud of the progress I have made and am so grateful for all the people who have been helping me do it. The only major thing for ISM is getting ready for the ISM Research Symposium.
While this is a lot, I can’t help but think back to that fraction: 5/52. I’ve made a lot of progress, but I still have a long way to go!
See you next week,
Ashley
