A New Start

It’s a new start for ReTextile and ISM. In regards to ReTextile, I am going to continue to research how to craft a strategic plan. I will also be sorting through donated fabric that ReTextile received from the Plano Quilt Guild last month. They donated a lot of fabric, and I need to determine which pieces will work with ReTextile patterns.
I also conducted my second research interview with Ayda Sow, the founder, and president of One Thread. One Thread has a similar mission to reduce textile waste and because of that, she was able to give me more targeted advice for ReTextile. As a college student, Ayda was also able to give me some helpful advice about how to keep ReTextile running successfully when I enter college.
In regards to ISM, we spent the class going over the next nine weeks which are vital to the ISM program. Our Original Work (in my case, ReTextile’s strategic plan) is due, we have multiple research presentations, and we will be selecting our mentors to help us in 2022. Going over this information was a bit daunting, but it has encouraged me to reach out to more professionals than required by the course to conduct more research that I can use for ReTextile and its strategic plan. Additionally, it gives me more options for potential ISM mentors.
See you next week,
Ashley
