This was a busy week for ReTextile. I recruited three new volunteers on Friday, one of whom I got to meet. Connie Keller from Quilt Country volunteered the use of her long arm machines, and she helped me to use the long-arm machine to finish off my quilts. I am beyond grateful for her generosity, and now two of the four quilts are complete! She also took the time to share her quilting-related advice for ReTextile such as how I might make quilt patterns and recruit more volunteers in the future.

Additionally, I picked up a sizable fabric donation from the Plano Quilt Guild, which is going to eventually help make more reused fabric quilts.

Finally, I did some research on creating a social media presence for ReTextile. I am now in the process of creating a posting schedule, but my research has already helped me identify my target audience and how I can stand out on social media among other quilting organizations.

Going forward this week, I am going to start contacting nonprofit organizations and entrepreneurs to potentially schedule interviews with them. I have some internal email addresses, but I am also going to be taking some time out of school to make LinkedIn connections and do some networking there. I’m also going to continue working on finishing up the last two quilts to be donated. ReTextile’s first big project is almost done!

See you next week,

Ashley
