Different Paths

When most people think of nonprofit work, they often think of working/volunteering for or creating independent charitable organizations. But this week I found a new path I could take to get to work for a nonprofit organization.

Opposite from what most people believe, an article from Harvard Business Review pointed out how the corporate and nonprofit sectors can be quite similar. Both cater to a client, which in the case of nonprofits is the cause that the nonprofit is serving. Both require communication and relationship-building skills. While these things may seem obvious, while reading this article it became apparent that there are crossovers between the two sectors and that I can start in nonprofit work and transition to corporate, and vice versa.

This week I continued working on ReTextile. I reached out to a local quilting guild, who were not interested in volunteering due to the pandemic. While this is disappointing, it is understandable. It has, however, given me the courage to take a new approach and go to some individual sewists who I know well and ask if they would be willing to help me with this project. As for the quilts themselves, all of them are almost ready to be quilted and finished off. I'm going to start finishing them off by the start of next week.

See you next week,

Ashley
