Whew! I made it through a crazy week.

First, I officially have a mentor! Elizabeth Watkins from Refresh Frisco agreed to be my mentor. After my interview with Ms. Watkins, I knew I wanted her to be my mentor. Her enthusiasm for service was contagious and I felt that because Refresh Frisco and ReTextile are both business-to-business nonprofits, Ms. Watkins would be able to provide more applicable advice and experience.

Second, I finished my original work! I have written the strategic plan for ReTextile and feel that I have learned a lot about my own organization. I now have a better idea of what the next few years should look like (strategic plans are always subject to change) and have more clarity about what ReTextile stands for. I hope to have Ms. Watkins review it soon.

Finally, I gave my presentation to the Quilters Guild of Plano. About 60 people attended, including Leslie Rose from the Gypsy Quilters. It was so nice to meet the Plano quilters and see what a vibrant community they have created. The presentation went well and I got a few new volunteers.

The major to-do this week is to write and format ReTextile’s (first ever) December newsletter. It’s intimidating, but I think the biggest challenge is just finding the time to get it done.

See you next week,

Ashley
