Last week I had the opportunity to present ReTextile to the Gypsy Quilters, a quilting group that does a lot of volunteering work in North Texas. It was so nice to meet the ladies who are a part of the group and see their support for ReTextile’s mission.

I also spoke with Elizabeth Ruvalcaba, a filmmaker in California working with nonprofits, both for and outside of work. Ms. Ruvalcaba was able to impart helpful, targeted advice from her unique experience.

Today, I shared my ISM journey with my class. I discussed my main takeaways from my primary and secondary research, and it was so exciting to share more about ReTextile with the class. I’m grateful that I had already spoken with the Gypsy Quilters because it ended up serving as great practice for this presentation.

I’m doubly glad I got the practice because this week I will be giving a short presentation to my school’s UNICEF club during our volunteering event. While this presentation is very different from the last two in terms of length and content, they are helping me become more confident in my ability to pitch ReTextile. Of course, all of this is additional practice for my speech in December for the Plano Quilt Guild.

I’m excited to update you on how the UNICEF event goes this week, so see you next week!

Ashley
