Spring Break was a busy but restful week for ISM and ReTextile.

I got my Certificate of Formation from the State of Texas and my Employer Identification Number from the IRS!

I also had a meeting with my new treasurer to go over budgeting and bank account information. It was so great to connect and get to know her better, and I feel like I made the right choice by asking her to be my treasurer. She was so prepared and patient in explaining all the financial information that I didn’t initially understand.

My goal this week is to draft a budget and coordinate with my mentor and my board about setting up a bank account. I need my board members present so they can act as signers on the bank account. This means they can sign/deposit checks while I am away at college.

Later in the week, I attended a quilting show and got two more quilt donations for ReTextile, which was helpful because it motivated me to keep chipping away at my final project.

I realized I am a little behind on my final project, but I do have a clear idea of what I need to do. I realized last week that I am not just creating an addition to my strategic plan, but am creating a whole set of resources for the day-to-day running of ReTextile. This new "plan" includes creating a branding guide, a board meeting schedule, donation tracking spreadsheets, etc.

While this is a daunting task, I feel rested from the break, so I'm trying to tackle it for about 30 minutes per day so things won't get overwhelming.

Overall, I feel confident about my final project and my ability to get it done!

See you next week,

Ashley
