I’m looking forward to this coming week for ReTextile because there is so much tangible progress being made. This weekend I will be dropping off ReTextile’s first four quilts to Treasured Vessels. While I am there, I will also be conducting a research interview with the founder, Alicia Bush.

I also have two other research interviews scheduled for this coming week. The first is with Elizabeth Watkins, the founder, and president of Refresh Frisco. I will be getting to ask her questions about how she founded Refresh Frisco, as well as see how the organization operates daily. The second interview is with Ayda Sow, the founder, and president of One Thread, which has a similar goal of reducing textile waste.

Today, I also hosted a letter-writing event with Frisco High School’s UNICEF club. Members wrote short letters of encouragement to the survivors, and these letters will accompany the quilts when they are donated. While hosting the event, I met a member who is interested in making quilts for future ReTextile projects, further building my volunteer base.

I have been doing some more research into strategic planning will be taking a deeper look into specific things that I need to consider for the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats Analysis. Based on my research, I can see this section taking a while to brainstorm, so I want to start now.

Overall, it has been encouraging to see so much coming to fruition for ReTextile. Even more encouraging, there is so much more on the horizon!

See you next week,

Ashley
